Today’s abs WO & my previous identity as an Ashtangi

Talking about the old days Had a msg chat yesterday with an old Astanga buddy from NYC. Hearing about mutual friends and the inevitable injuries, pose striving torture and the somewhat desperate fear of “losing” poses, well, it doesn’t make me miss being in that world. We joked about that fall 2012 Miami workshop liberating me, as I was already in the new phase process … Continue reading Today’s abs WO & my previous identity as an Ashtangi

This is going to be a pretty good week

Art Plans It’s suddenly springtime and for all of its deficiencies, the natural beauty of Portland springs are glorious. Yesterday when I got the cats outside I looked ahead at the weather and realized it’s finally plein air painting time again! I’ve really lagged on using my oils downstairs. I can’t get the lighting right. I’ve had to back myself into an awkward corner to … Continue reading This is going to be a pretty good week

Driving, food, cat breeding

Here’s some random stuff b/c I’m still caffeinating and I don’t feel like getting on to anything else. I drove to a vegan pizza place yesterday, to meet my friend. I’m such a freak that I can’t like wait until someone’s hungry. She’d run some errands and had some food already. I was pacing around my rooms in Hill House, growing increasingly nervous. I’d cancelled … Continue reading Driving, food, cat breeding

The force is not with me today – partial yoga & other stuff

Rogue Was a little dizzy this morning. We went to Rogue in the Pearl last night & both had the halibut fish & chips. (Also beer, and then some whiskey.) Very nice food only they seem to have ruined their vibe with the recent renovation. We got there a bit past 6pm on a Friday night, and the main room was mostly empty. When we … Continue reading The force is not with me today – partial yoga & other stuff

Reading at Starbucks

The kitschy building across the street is Casa Colima, a sort of serviceable, whitewashed Mexican restaurant. They do make really good margaritas, served in those big goblets, too heavy to pick up single handedly. I can’t afford to be a cocktail person anymore though, and I rarely suggest it, as I’m enough of a freeloader already. Not by choice! But then that doesn’t matter. Finished … Continue reading Reading at Starbucks

Lazy rest days – at least Podunk has good beer

One of the very few things Podunk has over the east coast is beer Course I didn’t give a fuck about that when I was installed in my rent stabilised, Manhattan hovel. I could afford decent wine and cocktails! Lounging around. What did I do today? I finally took the clothes out of my big suitcase, from when I was pretending I was going to … Continue reading Lazy rest days – at least Podunk has good beer

Ilani, my first ever casino experience #portlandia

I tried it once! Sort of. It’s not really going to a casino if you don’t gamble and don’t spend any money whatsoever. I came out of there with a bunch of goodies though, thanks to H and her points. Breakfast. A new water / coffee bottle. Cake, coffee, some safety gadget for your car… I forget what it does. I think it’s for busting … Continue reading Ilani, my first ever casino experience #portlandia

Saturday morning musings – restaurant review

Lunch at Higgins It was pretty good, a solid B+ IMO. I got  the Whole Pig Plate (which featured sausage, loin, ribs and one strip of bacon). The flavor was excellent. The wild rice was crunchy-chewy though! Way harder than my recent brown rice mishap. BF tried a bite & said, No, that’s undercooked. He got the rockfish special. Said it was ok but could’ve used … Continue reading Saturday morning musings – restaurant review
